The History Of Lucca Comics & Games

Lucca Comics & Games is the largest comic book, comics and games festival in Europe and is among the largest and most important in the world(Currently in second position), it has always been considered the most important comic book fair in Italy.

Lucca Comics this year restarts in attendance after a 2020 stop due to the global health emergency over Covid-19.
Last year's particular edition featured an almost entirely online format with live broadcasts, talks and meetings on major streaming platforms accompanied by promotions on Marketplaces such as Amazon and with some physical events located in the various accredited comic book stores called Campfire located throughout the peninsula.

The 2021 edition of Lucca Comics will be a very special edition, it will be the edition of the restart, where the festival will return to the presence and once again conquer the city, unlike the previous editions to 2020 the festival will no longer be located within pavilions and tensiostructures set up for the event but will be structured within the historical buildings of Lucca.

Access, as in past years, will be allowed only to those in possession of tickets purchased Online (they are already Sold Out for several days) there will be no option to purchase tickets on site and access to the enclosed spaces will require a valid GreenPass.
projected tickets for this edition are about 20,000 daily admissions, the festival this year will be held over 4 days (unlike pre-covid years which was 5 days) there will be no standouts or exhibitors on the walls or outside the premises planned by the comics organizers, however there are special permits for some temporary stores where you can enter even without a ticket.

According to some rumors, the city will be equally colorful with hundreds of visitors and ticketless cosplayers walking around on the city walls and in the middle of the city streets.We don't know if this will actually be the case, but Lucca Comics will certainly attract many visitors intrigued by the world of cosplayers and comics.

Festival Venue

The Lucca Comics & Games will take place throughout the urban area of the city of Lucca in Tuscany.

The historic palaces where pavilions with exhibitors and events will reside will open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m

Lucca comics & Games 2021 will take place from Friday, October 29, 2021 to Monday, November 1, 2021.

AROUND THE CITY

Unlike past years, this year due to safety requirements caused by the pandemic, there will be no booths outside or on the city walls.

The Map of Lucca Comics & Games 2021

The Lucca Comics Festival This year it will take place in the city's various historic buildings, will have, as in past years, a full extension within the city walls with some thematic areas outside; the characteristic tents (at least not all of them) as in past editions will not be set up. The Map of lucca comics and Games 2021 is divided into five categories of zones, le yellow areas will be those dedicated to the market exhibition where you can find the over 100 exhibitors and companies that will present and sell their services and products directly on site most of the exhibition areas will be located within the historic buildings with the exception of a couple of tensiostructures dedicated to Lucca Comics where publishers, publishing houses and resale of comics and comic books can be found.
At the Real Collegio and in the Cavalry Area will be positioned the areas of Lucca Games the section dedicated to gaming in all its forms: board games, role-playing games, card games or the various gadgets associated with them.
The whole area on Japanese culture, japan hub will be located in the fairgrounds of Lucca where one can find various areas and sections dedicated to the world of Japan with all facets of its culture and creativity.
This year there will be an entire building dedicated to Cosplay, the Cosplay Villa will be in the complex of St. Francis where there will be photographers and events dedicated to the world of dressing up and impersonating one's favorite characters.
Within the Festival there will be three hosting hubs (In the Dark Red map) where one should go first (with a ticket) before visiting the various pavilions.
Green zones will be dedicated to all meetings, conferences and at indoor events.
Fixed display exhibits will be placed at the blue zones and finally there will be some dedicated areas for signings with authors and personalities who will dedicate themselves to autographing copies of their products and publications.

Temperature

In addition to the presentation of the Green pass there will be body temperature measurement points to restrict access within the enclosed spaces to all individuals with a fever above 37.5°.

Prohibited gatherings

Inside the facilities, in the streets, and in all locales or places in the city, assemblages will be strictly prohibited; everyone is advised to maintain an interpersonal distance of about 1.5 meters or more.

Inside the Real Collegio di Lucca will be positioned the booths of the "Lucca Games"
