To resolve the problems of consumers online in a manner that is fair and effective, without going to Court

If you have problems with purchased products or services online, you can use the platform made available by the European Commission to submit a complaint and find a solution by a body independent of the employee to the resolution of disputes.

The consumer protection legislation in the EU ensures that everyone has the right to be treated fairly when buying goods and services online or offline.

European legislation guarantees consumers:

  • a fair treatment
  • products that comply with acceptable standards
  • the right of appeal in case of problems

Before submitting a complaint to a trader, it can be useful to learn more about your rights, know the rights and the remedies that apply to your situation.

Many organisations across the EU can provide useful information on consumer rights. If you have a problem relating to the purchase of goods or services from a trader based in another EU country, you can feel free contact your european consumer centre (ECC).

The european consumer centres can

  • provide advice on your consumer rights
  • help you resolve a dispute with a trader based in another EU country, Iceland or Norway, without having recourse to a court
  • advise you to go to another party, if they can not help you
